In John 10:27, Jesus says, "My sheep hear my voice." Notice the order. He doesn't say His sheep earn the right to hear Him by performing well enough. Hearing flows out of belonging. If you've been striving to prove yourself worthy of God's attention, you can stop. You don't hear God to become His, you hear God because you already are His. That shift changes everything about how we approach prayer, Scripture, and the quiet moments in between.
