About Love Church

Love Church is a place where our doors are open to people of all backgrounds, regardless of where they are at in their faith journey to hear about and receive the love of God.

Through engaging, powerful worship and Biblical truth taught in practical and relevant ways, we hope to weave God's life and God’s love into our community.

Vision

Our Vision is to love, transform, and serve the city of San Diego with the love of God.

Mission

Our Mission is to help you experience the love of God in their life through Jesus.

Meet the Pastor

Pastor Matt and Brianna Perry are launching a new church in San Diego called Love Church. A place where anyone, no matter where they have been or what they have done can experience the love of God.

Matt, who was born and raised an hour north in Riverside has felt the call to plant a church since he was eighteen years old. As an eighteen year old Bible college student in Sydney, Australia he heard a message on church planting which sparked his interest to learn more. Through that discovery and prayer it became clear that was his desire to one day start a church in a major city in California. As he moved back to California, he continued his education by obtaining a theology degree, and eventually a masters as well as interning at a church plant called Relevant Church.

It was in that season Matt met Brianna at California Baptist University, Brianna who grew up in Southern San Diego was graduating with her bachelors in Speech - Language Pathology. As she graduated and moved back to San Diego, Matt would spend week after week there and developed a heart for the city. They got married in 2018 and Matt moved to San Diego.

Matt was on staff at Eastlake Church, Cornerstone Church, and launched a campus for Union Church where he developed valuable skills and training to prepare their family for church planting. While Brianna continued working in the SLP field and volunteered at church.

As they got pregnant with their first child Ava, they began to have conversations with their pastors and it became clear God was leading them back home to Southern California to plant a church in San Diego. That church is called Love Church.

Our Values

This is who we are

Values are important. We are convinced people care more about who you are than where you're going

01

Jesus is our Message.

We believe that the gospel (The good news of what Jesus did) is central to everything we do. We gather to celebrate together the love of Jesus which is the gospel message.

02

People are our Heart.

People are our heart. We believe that people were created out of love by God. We believe in you no matter what you have done or what you have been through.

03

Generosity is our Opportunity.

We believe that no one is more generous than God. We want to live that characteristic out. We have an opportunity in all that we do to be generous. Generosity is our opportunity to show love in a tangible way.

04

Love is our Identity.

We want to be known for our love. Our love for God, and our love for people. When people think of the church, we want them to think of love.

Our Beliefs

This is what we believe

Beliefs are apart of how we live. Our beliefs are the foundation. These are from God through scripture.

01

God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. We believe that God is eternal and that He revealed Himself as one God existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1,26-27; 3:22  |  Psalm 90:2  |  Matthew 28:19  |  I Peter 1:2  |  II Corinthians 13:14

02

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return to earth again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:22-23  |  Isaiah 9:6  |  John 1:1-5, 14:10-30  |  Hebrews 4:14-15  |  I Corinthians 15:3-4  |  Romans 1 :3-4  |  Acts 1 :9-11  |  I Timothy 6:14-15  |  Titus 2:13

03

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His direction daily.

II Corinthians 3:17  |  John 16:7-13, 14:16-17  |  Acts 1:8  |  I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16  |  Ephesians 1:13, 5:18  |  Galatians 5:25

04

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can Man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23, 5:1  |  Ephesians 2:8-9  |  John 14:6, 1:12  |  Titus 3:5  |  Galatians 3:26

06

Man

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude and posture of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates man from God.

Genesis 1:27  |  Psalm 8:3-6  |  Isaiah 53:6a, 59:1-2  |  Romans 3:23

07

Eternity

Man was created to exist forever. He will either live eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God, through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

John3:16  |  I John 2:25, 5:11-13  |  Romans 6:23  |  Revelation 20:15

08

Eternal Security

God gives man eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, and because of this, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.

John 10:29  |  II Timothy 1:12  |  Hebrews 7:25, 10:10-14  |  I Peter 1:3-5

09

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to all men. Human authors wrote it under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. It was inspired by God, and thus, it is truth without any mixture of error.

II Timothy 3:16-17, 1:13  |  2 Peter 1:20-21  |  Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6  |  Proverbs 30:5
