Meet Matt & Bri Perry, the pastors of Love Church — a new church launching in the heart of San Diego.

The Story

Our story is one of adoption, healing, miracles, and purpose.

After years of waiting and praying, God blessed us with two beautiful daughters — and now, He’s leading us into something even bigger: planting a church in San Diego that will raise up generations of faith, hope, and love.

For over 15 years, Pastor Matt has had the joy of serving in nearly every role—intern, youth pastor, campus pastor—building ministry teams, coaching leaders, and helping shape thriving church communities. With degrees in theology and leadership, his passion has always been the same: to see people encounter Jesus and live transformed lives.

But nothing has stirred our hearts like this.

We believe now is the time—and San Diego is the place—for a new move of God’s love. That’s why we’re planting Love Church: a home for the hurting, a place for the searching, and a community built on the radical, relentless love of Jesus.

Jesus Is Our Message

“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”  — 1 Corinthians 2:2

Jesus is the center of everything.

We don’t gather around a personality, a performance, or a preference — we gather around a Person. Our worship, our teaching, our community, and our mission are all rooted in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He’s not just part of the message — He is the message.

We preach Jesus boldly and follow Him fully.

People Are Our Heart

“We love because He first loved us.” 
— 1 John 4:19

Every person matters to God — so they matter to us.

We don’t see crowds, we see individuals. Faces. Stories. Struggles. Whether you’ve been following Jesus for years or you’re not sure what you believe, you are welcome here. We exist to love people well — with compassion, dignity, and grace.

We don’t build a church with bricks — we build it with people.

Generosity Is Our Opportunity

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35

Generosity isn’t something we do — it’s part of who we are.

We believe everything we have is a gift from God, so we live open-handed with our time, our finances, and our encouragement. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, giving to missions, or supporting the local church, we see generosity as a response to God’s love — not a religious obligation.

Love Is Our Identity

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

We want people to say, “They must be from Love Church — look how they love.”

In a divided world, we’re building a community marked by humility, unity, and sacrificial love. We love beyond comfort. We love when it’s messy. We love because it’s our identity in Christ. This isn’t just what we do — it’s who we are.

When people think of Love Church, we want them to think of… Love.

What We Believe

At Love Church, our beliefs are rooted in historic Christianity, centered on Jesus, and expressed through lives of love and purpose. These truths shape our community, guide our mission, and ground us in God’s story.

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God — alive, powerful, and without error in its original form. It reveals who God is, who we are, and how we can live in relationship with Him. We build our lives and our church on its truth. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

Jesus Christ is the Son of God — fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose from the dead so we could have eternal life. He is our Savior, our King, and the center of everything we do. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Salvation is not something we earn — it’s a gift of grace from God. Through faith in Jesus, anyone can be forgiven, restored, and adopted into God’s family. No matter your past or your struggles, you can start fresh in Him. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

The Holy Spirit is God’s presence living within every believer. He comforts, convicts, empowers, and guides us to become more like Jesus. We believe in living Spirit-filled lives marked by love, joy, peace, and spiritual boldness. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”

The Church is not a building — it’s the people of God on mission together. We gather to worship, grow, serve, and scatter into the world with love. Every believer has a role to play in building the Church and sharing the Gospel. “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

We believe God’s love changes everything. Our mission is simple: to help people experience the love of God in their life through Jesus. That’s why we’re planting Love Church — to be a light in San Diego and beyond. “We love because He first loved us.”

| Matt is adopted and is born and raised in the Riverside area, Bri is born and raised San Diego.

| We’ve been married since 2018 and believe in fighting for strong, grace-filled marriages.

| We’re parents to Ava and Ella — the cutest miracle babies you’ll ever meet.

Matt is full time with the church, but also does Leadership Coaching and Digitally Marketing on the side, Bri is a full time Speech Language Pathologist.
